Well I didn't, but if Helen says it is dangerous and provides manual
uninstall instructions, so that's what I would do.

You need to download a more recent version of Firebird if you are
experiencing this issue. The fix has been backported, so

The following versions should work without issue (certainly 1.5.5 does).
1.5.5
2.0.4
2.1.1

Point releases are fixes only, so you should at least upgrade to the
most recent release in the major series (eg 1.5.x, 2.0.x, 2.1.x).

Alternatively you can uncheck the install Control Panel item checkbox
in the installer. It doesn't provide any features that are not
available within services.msc anyway.
