Do this:
Boot up the computer and after the post sequence is finished, watch for the Windows pre-boot screen. Press F8, holding it down momentarily or tapping it 2 or 3 times.
A menu of startup options will come up. Use the down-arrow key to select "Safe mode with command prompt".
Let Windows boot up in safe mode (it is slow) and log in as Administrator.
Then, at the command prompt, type
cd c:\Windows\system32 - then press the Enter key
now do
dir Firebird*.cpl
Windows should display Firebird2Control.cpl
now do
del Firebird2Control.cpl -and press Enter
Now log out and restart the computer.
I understand that on some versions of Vista, you will have to go the F8 route again when starting up, this time selecting Normal from the startup options - otherwise your Vista will just continue booting up in Safe mode forever.
