Many years ago, back before FB, at a company I was at, we wrote a
utility that would watch the transactions on a FB database--oldest and
current. It was really a great way to go--when a transaction was left
open, the application would set off an alarm. This made development a
lot easier.

I don't have the app anymore (the Delphi code got publicly posted, but
I don't remember where or if it is still available) but something like
this would be able to identify that there was a problem a whole lot
quicker.
