For the archive: The firebird2.0 packages essentially work on
Debian. I just had to re-run the package configuration as for some
reason the database admin password was not set in the first run.

Both on FreeBSD and on Debian all access modes (locally, locally via
localhost, remotely) now work ok from the isql tool and from our own
drivers linked against libfbembed.so.

There are some remaining problems in our driver which may or may not
be related to the client libraries. I'll report on that separately if
necessary.
