Hi

Thanks to all who have offered solutions to this problem. We have tried
every suggestions but I have just stumbled onto a solution. Running
Gfix on FB 2 (on the 1.5 DB) then using GBak with the -g command
actually successfully backup up the data.

This is doubly wonderful.
a) we have got most of the data back !
b) The user has to install the FB 2 version of our software, which we
have been struggling to get them to do for months. (too happy with the
version they were running)

There is still a question of why this is happening but thanks to this
near catastrophe they are motivated to fix the problem.
