I always think that this is a completely non-sense.

How a company can suppose someone will buy a product that the company
that develops it don't use itself. :-(

I know Interbase precedes Borland, but the first thing it should do
(IMHO) is:
1.) Fix the Borland compiler to the standards
2.) Fix IB code to workaround Borland C compilers problem

The phrase "eat your own dog food" fit well on this case :-)
