Not actually.

I have a full application build with D7 and IBX for Firebird 1.5. I have
tested it and works just fine with FB 2.0 and 2.1 without any changes or
problems at all.

Your problem is not IBX at all, but moving to something as FIBPlus or
IBObjects it's still a good idea for the near future. For instance, you'll
not be able to use some new FB features (like transaction wait timeouts)
with IBX.
