Subject Re: [firebird-support] Accessing firebird database on LAN

Can you access the server from the server itself? (I mean localhost:D:\DB\datas.HDB, or something like this)
Did you install client DLL (fbclient.dll, and/or gds32.dll) on the client machine? This is the only file you have to install (if you want to access the server only in native mode. For BDE applications, you have to install a full BDE environment)
How do you want to access server? Native, or through BDE?

Thanks for all the feedback.

I still can not access the database from a client computer. Are there any
firebird tools or files which need to be installed on the client computer to
read the database (.HDB) from the server.

Regards,

Tariq

connect to servername:drive_letter\folder_name\database_name
e.g. on windows
ibm-srv1:c:\yourfolder\yourdatabase.fdb
e.g. on linux
ibm-srv2:/yourfolder/yourdatabase.fdb
