I have never had a problem with supplying localhost (except once where
it was not found in the hosts file and it had to do a round trip to
the dns server). After connecting through Remote Desktop to a 2003
Server, we have never had an issue connecting to Firebird via
localhost or 127.0.0.1 on over 100 servers (with the above exception).
I am not aware that this has changed under Firebird 2, but don't
imagine so.
