If it were me, yes, I'd do that. But these are users downloading the
software from a website and trying it on their own. Most have trouble
finding the Start button, I can't imagine the new and inventive ways
they'd find to mess up installing FireBird :-)

That, and I'm not sure how I'd handle systems where FireBird is
already installed?

I guess a multi-user edition that uses the FireBird server is about
the only way to go.
