Hi,

Connection button says all is well) but when I try to actually use
this connection, the Office app says "Unable to obtain list of tables
from the data source".
Does anyone have any advice?

It would help if we knew which version of Office you are using. I use Firebird and Office 97 - excel, word and ms access - every day and the performance is flawless on the local network. Over the wire I think we have to wait for 2.1 to arrive for things to speed up. My first suggestion would be to check the table permissions i.e. what user name and password are you using to try and connect to the DB from the DSN?
Hope this helps,
