"Classic" refers to the model of the *server* component, not the client. The "client library" component is fbclient.dll on Windows, libfbclient.so on Linux or other POSIX platforms. You can also use an embedded Firebird Classic on Linux (libfbembed.so).

However, your subject says "Is there a GUI admin tool that supports Classic-Server?" The answer to that (different) question is Yes, many, and all of them connect to either Classic and Superserver server components. If you want one that you can install and run on either Linux or Windows, try FlameRobin. You can link to its home site from the topical menu at the left side of the firebirdsql.org homepage.

You could look for further "newbie" help by reading the Quick Start guide, which is in the /doc/ directory of your Firebird installation (or download via the Documentation Index at the main firebirdsq.org website).
