If the database is slow on the clients machine and on your PC, then the
problem is almost certainly in the database. Have you checked that the
slow database has the same indexes as the fast one? If so, backup and
restore the slow database on your PC and try again. If that helps,
something is inhibiting garbage collection. Check the gstat output.
