It might be safe, but very un-explainable to people.

"we", as the Firebird-support list, have enough trouble explain the
current behaviour as it is.

Much of the problems, however, are coming from tools that allow mixed
case by default in editors, then quote the identifier for you, and people
seemingly miss their tables when trying to query them.

Please, if Firebird becomes case-preserving, it has to be thought through
much better than you're doing now.
