Hi Alan,
you, not FLOAT (7 digit significance)?
Whenever I describe FLOAT to someone I usually qualify the
"7 digit significance" with "if you are lucky", as in my
experience 6 digits seems about all you can actually rely on.
(And "signifance" includes your decimal places, so you are
talking about quite small numbers with FLOAT.)
