Death to switches! They make testing impossible for the Firebird
project and for applications built on the database. They give bugs
wonderful hiding places. They let you write applications that work
one way one time and another way another time. Maybe an organization
as big as Microsoft can deal with that level of complexity - though
there's little evidence of it - but for an open source project,
simple, consistent, and correct is the way to go.
