From the Fb2 Release Notes:

GSEC now uses the Services API. The server will refuse any access
to security2.fdb except through the Services Manager.

That would explain why the -database param is no longer needed
(although there's no mention of this in the rlsnotes). But it makes
it all the more puzzling why the OP only got access (with SS!) after
adding that parameter...
