Since it appears you might be using windows, and you already have Firebird installed and running. Try using FlameRobin, it's a great little tool that provides a front end gui to your database. I would suggest giving it a shot. The sql interface for firebird is pretty elaborate and it would be a shame to dismiss it so quickly.
