Good article !

I just suggest you to change the title to something like:
Why the database size does not shrink after I delete a lot of records

or something in this line.

The "compress" word lead me to think about zip or something else (like
on the fly compression like STACKER did anybody else remembers it ? :-)
), compressed volumes on windows and so on.
