Steve,

I wonder if the utility called "WhoLockMe" can help you to pin point
which process kept you file open. You can find it by searching
"WhoLockMe".

Give it a try. At least it will tell you whether the fbk file was
locked by the back up process, by the virus checker or by your
application. I used this little utility every now and then to speed
up problem diagnostic.
