The database doesn't have a size limit - or rather, the size limit is
much much larger than 50Mb. If I understand correctly, you had a
firebird V2 database that was over 35MB. You ran a script to store
more records, and at the end, the database was 10 MB smaller, and
your new records were missing. If that is correct, you should take
the issue to the development list - that's where questions about V2.0
are handled. firebird-devel@...

The first five questions they will as are:

1) What operating system?
2) What version of the operating system?
3) What baselevel of V2?
4) What exactly were you doing?
5) Have you validated the database?
