No, just let Firebird install to its own folder in program files. Your
database file itself can be put inside your application tree though.

It really is a lot more simple than you are imagining, double click ->
Next Next Next Next Finish, that is one of Firebirds strengths.

A mirror is just a copy of the file on a different machine usually
located in a geographically different location so the main download
servers don't get overloaded. Choose the mirror that is geographically
closest to you.
