Well - as Helen says, there are many reasons why and how network
problems can occur. What else is the specific user doing at the time?
What else is happening on the network at the time? How well is the
router configured? (Which is an art in itself)

At one site, we reformatted and reinstalled the OS and the app, as
well as the Network card.

It worked.

Why? I don't know. But it did. Replacing the network card on its own
didn't help.

If your problem is one specific computer, then it seems to me that
the problem is with THAT computer, not with the program. It might be
with the way the application is used (combination of user leaving a
query running for a long time) and a DHCP server; it might be the
other things that the user is doing / applications they are running
at the time; it might be the way the router is configured.

Tim
