Why? The only reason you would run mend is to prepare the database for
backup if there has been corruption. Sweep is likely to fail if there
is corruption. In fact if the corruption is in a backversion rather
than the most recent version, then backup may be successful with a
simple -g switch.

What are you trying to achieve here? A backup? A validation?
Corruption repair?
