... and it does not work for me either (both FB1.5, FB2,
and afair it did not work even in FB1).
My guess is that it caused compatibility problems (because -V switch normally
does not expect parameter) and so was never committed into final version.

Because sum of release notes from all FB versions is considered "official
documentation", pehaps this feature should be either implemented,
or denounced (probably in FB2.x docs).
