HKLM\SOFTWARE\Firebird Project\Firebird Server\Instances

This will be installed when the Firebird service has been installed
using the Windows installer or when INSTREG was used during the
installation. However, for Firebird to run, it doesn't have to be
there, so you can't even safely rely on that.

Automatic Installations or De-Installations of a Firebird service are
a dangerous thing. So there will probably be the need for human
interaction on some of the machines.
