I don't know of any problems with Firebird running without forced
writes except that in the case of a system crash, the database on
disk may be hopelessly corrupted. That's a pretty significant
exception, of course. As long as the operating system is intact,
its cache and the disk cache will make the database appear to have
been written correctly.
