I can't directly answer your question, but Firebird 1.5 had about 100
release candidates (ok that is exagerated), and 4 minor versions in
1.5.0, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.5.3. Firebird 2 has been released, which had 3
betas and 5 release candidates and now 2.0 final.

So I would in the short term upgrade to 1.5.3.

Search for the issue in the tracker. I don't imagine it is a desired
feature though.
