Thanks for your reply. We have a set of auditing tables with audits
somewhat similar to what you describe - although we do not maintain
all back versions due to medico legal issues. We are required to be
compliant with HIPAA (US patient privacy) laws.
This still does not solve the issue of allowing only one person the
edit the note at a time. This is essential to avoiding one user from
overwriting another user. Simply telling the user "Sorry, you cannot
save this note because it was altered since you last accessed it" is
not adequate either.
