Subject RE: [firebird-support] Firebird and FreeBSD 6

Firebird 1.5.2 perfectly works on a FreeBSD 6.0 machine.
just be sure to update your ports before you execute the following commands:
# cd /usr/ports/databases/firebird-server
# make install

But still i would recommend to install Firebird 1.5.2 in a Linux machine to avail the super-server architecture of Firebird. Super-server architecture is faster than the Classic-server architecture supported only by FreeBSD. :)

Don't use the pre-compiled package, just build it from the ports tree

`cd /usr/ports/databases/firebird-server`
`make install`
