Sorry this is so late - I've been on holiday. Firebird on a cluster
requires a shared memory lock manager accessible across the cluster.
The shared memory project associated with Beowulf is insufficient, but
there is a distributed lock manager project. Firebird's lock manager
was based on the API of the VAX distributed lock manager - we've got
some extensions that would have to be emulated if we were to use the
mode of the DLS that looks like the VAX lock manager. However, with
those pieces, Firebird should work on Beowulf.
