Subject RE: [firebird-support] Backup strategy

Are your servers on windows or linux? Do you make a gbak and copy the
resultant gbk without stopping the firebird server?

A client needs to backup the whole hard disk on tape, so it would be better
stop the fb server in order to copy the gdb without problems (also
shutdown’ing the db).

It would really useful if anyone post their bat/shell backup scripts

I have a cron job that backs up the database on the server it resides,
then sftp's it to the backup machine, that way, the firewall doesn't get
in the way at all.
