But you can run successfully on a Windows 2k cluster, using a central
disk raid system. I do this at over 20 customers sites and work very
well. Has served its purpose a couple of times when the main cluster
node has fallen over and the secondary machine continues to control the
database.

And there's a reason for that. When multiple firebird servers access a
single database, they overwrite each others changes and turn the
database into random bit patterns unless there is a central control
point. That central control point is a lock manager. We don't have a
lock manager that runs across Windows 2003 clusters (yet).
