Subject RE: [firebird-support] FB Newbie - data access components?

The IBX components provided with Delphi work OK with Firebird 1.5. You just
have to manually set the database
name to one with an fdb extension.

I don't know if they are necessarily the best ones to use in the long run,
but they will work.

Subject: [firebird-support] FB Newbie - data access components?

Hi

I have downloaded FB 1.5.2 and got the server running.

I have downloaded a trial of IBExpert, and can access/use the demo database.

What are the default/best free data access components for connecting to a FB
database from Delphi 7 and populating a grid?

I tried the D7 Interbase ones, but the database component seems to look for
only IB databases.

At present I am looking only for (good) freeware or open source ones, or
data access components provided out of the box with Delphi 7.

I would also (for later) appreciate comments as to the pros and cons of
IBObjects, FIBPlus, etc as data access components.

Thanks in advance!
