Oh, boy! I specifically asked whether there
were any issues with IBX and FB 1.03 and was
told there were none. I then (wrongly obviously)
assumed that IBConsole should work against
1.03 - same name for dll and server and
from my reading of the docs, nothing fundamentally
changed - just bugfixes and a few bits and
bobs here and there. I wasn't expecting to
be able to exploit anything new, but I am
surprised that it doesn't work.

Ah well, if IBConsole is back, I'll download it
again. Or what about Marathon. I only really
want the simplest of functionality - what I want
to do is not rocket-science.
