Unfortunately it did. Well, not to me personally, but to one of my clients who
was "smart" enough to try out some storage/hard-disk-syncing tools on some
directories with live databases. Of course, I can't be 100% sure, maybe it was
a glitch in filesystem, but it sure did look like it.
