Its ok,
I have now sorted the problem. It was to do with NT permissions whilst
using Remote Desktop, because if I did the same installation using the
Windows 2003 server directly the installation is fine.
:-)

Subject: [firebird-support] Firebird 1.5.2 installation on Windows2003
server
Hi all,
Im having serious problems installing Firebird on Windows 2003
Server.
Before It was using Firebird 1.0.3, and my InstallShield
installation removes the old server, removes the registry keys,
removes the files, and removes the NT Services.
Then, installs the backup files of Firebird 1.5.2 into c:\program
files\firebird\firebird_1_5, and I install the registry for
DefaultInstance, Register the NT Services.
But, when my installation attempts to start
the "FirebirdGuardianDefaultInstance", it seems to hang. And I have
to close the process "IKernel.exe", then my installation returns
with an error : "The remote procedure call failed".
I've tried and tried to understand what is happenning, but cannot
find anything relevant to understand this problem in forums.
It worked before, after i tried installing the ReserverPorts
registry setting for 3050, then it failed, removed the registry
entry and it still now fails.
Of course, im doing all this stuff while using Remote Desktop.
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
