That's a bug number from the Borland bug tracking system - we've carried
that particular blemish with us since about InterBase V4 - maybe
earlier... My translation (biased, of course) is that someone tried to
make distinct work with indexes and discovered that all though using an
index was theoretically faster, practice and theory diverged.
