Ideally, you would use a middle-tier layer that does load balancing
and fail-over safety. I can't give you any ideas, since you didn't
mention what was your development environment. I know with Delphi
there's kbmMW that offers load balancing and fail-over. And, as
Alexandre already mentioned, you'll need two-way replication between
both databases to have them properly synchronized, even if it's only
fail-over safety that you are looking for.
