We use the EasySoft ODBC driver for Firebird. We've tested them all and it
appears to be the best. We've been using it for production software for
years, and when we did find bugs they fixed them quickly.

It does require a licensing fee, though.

Subject: [firebird-support] Better Connectivity Drivers

I have been looking for a reliable, Windows friendly, future proof
driver
for Firebird for about 2 weeks now.
I've even bought some just to see if they were any better...

Nothing exist for Firebird!!

I've tried the ODBC driver, it's great...and probably the best
driver that
I've come across, but I can't use it because Microsoft will be
dropping
support for ODBC thru OLEDB/ADO in the near
future.

I think OLEDB is the way to go for Windows and Firebird, it can be
used by more applications written in different languages.
But the OLEDB drivers I came across just had way to many problems or
are incomplete.

This "little" dilemma has caused me some huge problems with
my "hopeful"
migration to Firebird.

It's hard to prove to your boss and the IT department why we should
go to
Firebird when I can't get anything that will run the database
reliably (and
has a future.).

I see this as a huge problem for Firebird and wish I could
help...but I
don't have the time. What would it cost me if I want to get a GREAT
OLEDB
driver developed by IBPhoenix...or anyone else that wants to step up
to the
plate?

Also as a side question, what would it cost me if I wanted all of
the
external utilties (GBAK, GSEC,etc) added to Firebird as language
extensions?

Thanks
