Hi,

We do something similar however we us a field called DataType (which is
BigInt) so the style of record type stored is for all practical purposes
unlimited.

We mix (in our Business Listing system) clients, employees, vendors,
casual inquires etc.

We do not seem to suffer from any performance issues.
