I think I am not alone in missing a good
Firebird admin utility with a GUI under Linux.
I find myself booting into windows to use Ibexpert,Ib_sql etc.
Under Linux there are only a few half baked GUI utilities
requiring a php installation ,which is still awkward at
best under x86_64 Linux as interbase.so is more or less
not compileable under php5 on either our AMD opteron
nor on our AMD 64 FX-55 systems (see firebird php list ).
Isql, while it works fine is not what you want to use
for larger projects.
I think Firebird 2.0 should not be shipped without
a top notch GUI admin utility for both windows
and posix platforms.
Probably some of the worlds best c,c++ programmers are
working on the project. It should be possible to whip
something up. This would also put a much needed face
onto Firebird and help to enhance the media
coverage of the product.
