I tried both ways :

Backup on windows then copy the back up file
to the suse 9.2 64 partition , restore and voila...

I also directly copied the whole database (after all
clients were disconnected ) from windows to linux and
there were no problems.

There should not be any database size
restrictions. My test databases have tables with
several million records.

If you fill up the harddisk you still could break
the database into two pieces and access it as if
it were one. Ask in this group how to do that.

More memory gives you better mileage.
