Ups, nop. Clasic server is attended by (x)inet daemon. So, must be
manipulate inet config file to release that "service" and restar the
daemon.

For old inet do someting like:

# perl -pi -e 's/^gds_db/#gds_db/' /etc/inetd.conf
# /etc/init.d/inetd reload

and for new xinetd will be:

# mv /etc/xinetd.d/firebird ~
# /etc/init.d/xinetd reload
