I'm very fond of Bold + BoldExpress myself. Steep learning curve, but
once you've learned it it's amazing what you can do. Bold comes (came)
with Delphi (7) Architect. BoldExpress is a third-party product from
www.neosight.com. If you'll consider .NET there's ECO II - the follow-up
to Bold.

These tools are completely object oriented - you model your classes in a
graphical tool and Bold/ECO creates everything you need, including
persistence (where Firebird is one of several options). Some sites built
with these tools:

www.howtodothings.com
By Peter Morris.

www.toutesdirections.com (seems to be down right now)
By Bryan Crotaz.

www.itadress.se
By me. :-) It's in Swedish I'm afraid. Click "Gå in som gäst" to see the
relevant stuff.

Good luck!
Kjell
