SuperServer was supposed to be faster on newer hardware when it was
designed in 1994. "New" has changed ...

The Vulcan subproject has redone the threading design in Firebird to
work with multi-processors. The roadmap for Firebird calls for the
release of Version 2 followed by integration with Vulcan.
