Hello...
I am doing something similar, though I am running Suse Linux on a Dell
with Dual 64bit 3ghz XEONS (at least thats what my h/w tech tells me).
I will be loading 1.52 Classic server to make use of both CPU's.
Server 4GB of RAM. I did some intitial testing a while back and there
were no problems then. It will have approx 100 users hitting it for
mostly transactions and light reporting.
I do have one Dual Xeon 2.4 GHZ, 4GB RAM server that is currently not
running Firebird, but plan is to load 1.52 Classic sometime next week.
Classic server is good for production. I would say that unless you
need the extra CPU to run some other tasks, go for Classic and use
both horses.
Cheers!
