Thanks for this link.
We weren't sure but suspected this might be the case... currently
considering backporting firebird debian packages from testing or
installing from tar ball.

A connection is made from host01 to host02 ie. isql-fb
host02:/var/lib/firebird/data/database.fdb. No network drives in use and
we're using FreeUDFLibC.
Thanks for the info helen, has been a great help.
We've been running firebird since it was open sourced, when it was still
/opt/interbase and have never had any problems until now.
