I would be astonished if Arnaldo is not TOTALLY confused with all these
cosmic semantics and philosophy, which have precisely NOTHING to do with
his problem, which was how to establish elapsed time.

All Arnaldo needs to calculate elapsed time is to store two TIMESTAMP
values, a start timestamp and an end timestamp. He subtracts the start
timestamp from the end timestamp, which will give him the elapsed time in
days. If he wants to convert it to hours, he can multiply it by 24.

The TIME d a t a t y p e is not suitable for this kind of
calculation. Use a TIMESTAMP.
