I'm afraid that I have never tried. I find it easier to uninstall one
version and install another rather than run two versions simultaneously.

Firebird doesn't (shouldn't?) need them, but installers and admin tools
do.

This is probably where you are having problems. I haven't looked recently
but I would guess that instsvc is using the same registry entry for each
version.

I would recommend trying to run one as a service and one as an
application.

What are you trying to achieve, btw?
